Her Story
Alicia Douglas is the Founder and CEO of WaterRising Institute and the creator of WaterHouse, a global platform dedicated to making water visible as one of the defining economic, infrastructure, and investment opportunities of our time.
After more than three decades building partnerships across business, government, philanthropy, and civil society, Alicia recognized a fundamental gap: while water underpins every economy, every industry, and every community, it remains largely invisible in boardrooms, capital markets, and culture. WaterHouse was created to change that.
Launched alongside the World Economic Forum in Davos, WaterHouse is building the relationship infrastructure for the emerging water economy — bringing together investors, family offices, global brands, technology leaders, infrastructure experts, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to unlock new approaches to water resilience, enterprise value, and long-term economic growth.
Alicia believes the world's greatest water challenge is not a lack of innovation or capital, but a lack of connection. Her work focuses on creating trusted spaces where ideas become partnerships, partnerships become investment, and investment delivers measurable impact.
Through WaterRising Institute and WaterHouse, she is advancing a new global movement that positions water not simply as an environmental issue, but as the invisible infrastructure that powers AI, energy, manufacturing, agriculture, cities, supply chains, and human prosperity.
An Ambassador for the UN Women's Empowerment Principles, Alicia is committed to building inclusive leadership and cross-sector collaboration that can endure across generations.
Her vision is simple but ambitious: to make water visible, investable, and impossible to ignore.
